Pre-existences and conditions

• existing house on the outskirts of the city
• family of a musician and an opera manager with two just born kids
• need for an small extension in 2 floors with reduced budget
• client's wish to make the extension in glass, completely transparent to enjoy full view of the surroundings

Concept and solution

• a simple rectangular steel construction with a glass 'skin'
• the corner is cut to create an special balcony; a three dimensional structure with different functional parts
• it includes a cantilevered shower
• the balcony can accommodate small concerts and performances using the garden for the audience
• it is a humble homage to the master sculptor jorge oteiza
