Pre-existences and conditions

• derelict ground floor space of an historic building in prague center
• front and back rooms are separated by closed service rooms; only a narrow corridor connect them
• all services are in the middle rooms; they must be preserved
• key question: how to bring visitors to the back room

Concept and solution

• with the introduction of an element acting as a 'clip' both rooms are bound
• the shape of the 'clip' invite people to enter the second room
• the angular geometry and the metal cladding of this element make contrast with the historic walls
• all public space is treated equally to bring unity
• all services, storage and installations are hidden behind the new element
